这套书首次使用原书书名《全像金瓶梅》，且是唯一全书一页不删的制作版本。制作过程中面临背透严重的问题，编辑团队在不损伤页面信息的情况下，弱化背透效果，甚至在保证页面原有信息和形态完好的前提下，手工清除背投。内容包括内阁本金瓶梅的全部页面（含封面、封底内侧黏贴纸），其中有16页彩色（包括封面和红印），其他为灰度制作。还收录了200幅王孝慈图像（来自美国国会古佚本附册的胶片，这可能是首次完整呈现），没有图片搭配，全部展现。附录包括1965年日本《大安》杂志刊载的散失页面，以及日本学者关于内阁本黏贴纸信息的论文。此外，对于破损的页面，有补配自北大本或东京大学藏本的修复版本。
