Mr Kiasu: Everything Also Like Real

Mr Kiasu is one of Singapore’s most recognisable comic icons known for its local humor that is greatly relatable to Singaporeans. The comic series, which has sold over 650,000 copies since 1990 and includes eight volumes and three spin-offs, depicts a caricature of a typical Singaporean who 'does not like to lose.' It has also inspired a live-action drama series and various merchandise. Relaunched in 2017, Mr Kiasu's story is set in a modern, technologically advanced Singapore, where he applies his quirky 'Kiasu' solutions to everyday situations. The series humorously addresses challenges such as time, space, money, aging, and societal changes in the 21st century. Johnny Lau, a Singaporean artist, is renowned for creating the Mr Kiasu series and has served as a creative director or co-producer across various art and design projects, including publishing, TV, interior design, and mentoring youth talents.
