The Night of Mid-Shaban

The contention over the importance of the night of mid-Shaʿbān, and its appropriate honouring, has long been a matter of respectful scholarly debate. Recently, in the context of national celebrations, it has become a divisive issue, potentially causing discord among scholars and distracting from more essential concerns facing the Muslim community today. This work continues the noble tradition of the original Salaf by carefully presenting the divergence of views and legitimating differing positions to a certain extent. It emphasizes the importance of maintaining adab in scholarly debate, revealing the scope of valid dispute on this issue while criticizing those who consider this subsidiary matter of primary importance. The content covers virtues of place and time, hadith-based evidence, scholarly dispute, the observance of the night of Mid-Shaban, its blessed nature, modern fatawa, and concluding remarks.
